ADHESION PULL TESTING

Applications of coatings, membranes, and seals help protect against air and water intrusion. To perform their role on your structure, they need to be installed correctly, maintained, and have proper surface adhesion.

BECS’s team of consultants understands the many factors affecting proper adhesion from materials to lifespan, and can use adhesion testing as part of diagnosing existing conditions or through a professional quality assurance plan.

ROOF WIND UPLIFT RESISTANCE

When considering a roof replacement, wind uplift needs to be accounted for in the design. What better way to simulate that process and determine if the field installation meets the specified requirements? BECS can help ensure the adhesion of the roof was achieved through ASTM E907/FM 1-52 Field Verification of Roof Wind Uplift Resistance Testing. The test uses a chamber to create a negative pressure that simulates the uplift while monitoring the deflection of the roof membrane. Testing reduces potential callbacks and provides owners a peace of mind knowing that they got what they paid for.

OTHER COMMON TESTS

When your building is leaking air, you are losing money, efficiencies, and increasing your use of energy. Testing air barriers, windows, curtain walls, and other fenestrations will assist in identifying areas where air may be escaping.

Water penetration testing is a crucial tool for identifying the root cause of leaks and their path to the interior. These tests are valuable for investigatory testing of existing fenestrations and as independent testing services for new construction/new installation projects.

Walls are supposed to keep the outside out, or at least provide a path for water that is penetrated through the masonry. When drainage pathways are clogged or caulked over, water will often find its way into the interior of the building, rather than finding a pathway back out. To understand how much water is being penetrated through the masonry, penetration testing is performed to understand recorded volumes of water penetrating under a monitored constant pressure.
